Grape Variety: Torrontes
Producer: Pol Opuesto
Region: Gualtallary, Mendoza, Argentina
Wild Scale: 5/5
Winemaking: Manual harvest of grapes and whole bunches crushed by foot before fermentation in plastic tanks with indigenous yeast. The juice spends 10 months with the skins. Aged a further 5 months in old barrels and bottled with a tiny amount of sulphur but no fining of filtration.
This Wine: A hazy, beautifully textured orange wine with flavours of actual oranges (!) and grapefruit. Fruity but dry with a nice bitter undertone. A very unique expression of the Torrontes grape which is not always renowned for its character.
